The Happiest Place on Earth

We just returned home from 3 days at Disneyland. Our annual passes were just days from expiring and in true "fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants" fashion we packed up and headed to Anaheim for some fabulous family fun. While standing in line for a ride (behind a little boy having a meltdown) Madison whispered to me "Why are there always so many crying kids and crabby parents at Disneyland?". It's so true. After 12 hours in the hot sun; standing in many long lines; walking many miles through large crowds of people; loading up on ice cream and cotton candy... talk about sensory overload! This is a recipe for a major meltdown for kids and parents alike. Just ask Mason (see above pic.). Don't get me wrong. I do love Disneyland and everything it represents. It is an amazing thing to see the smile on the kids faces and to hear them giggling together. They all work together to plan out our trek from Tomorrowland to Toontown. Maddie tallys the votes for the next ride and Jack holds the map while Lucas argues why we must go on "Tower of Terror" for the 19th time as he refuses to wear the Mickey ears or pose in any family photo unless bribed with cotton candy or ice cream (see above pic.). Mason goes along with anything as long as we stay away from the "scawy piwates". They actually LIKE being together and are holding hands skipping around from ride to ride togther. This is the memory I choose to hold onto. Forget the cranky kids (who mine?) or the crabby parentals (who me?). I love Disneyland and we will be back for more next year.

So glad you're back! Was beginning to worry you'd given up!

Good for you for remembering the good stuff, but thanks for letting on that it might not be all sunshine and smiles all the time. I need to hear that once in a while.

Love, love, love the pic of all 4 - especially Mason! hilarious!

You're family is BEAUTIFUL!

So wish we could have been there! Miss you all. Love the pic of Mason sleeping on Lucas. Loved seeing all the kiddos.
