Turkey Trot 2008

2 adults
4 kids
1 thirty foot travel trailer
8 days
1 turkey
and the open road

We are thankful for our annual turkey trot this year. We explored, hiked, caved, climbed, fished, swam, camped and even ate a turkey...thanks to Grandma Tina. Our trip led us to many wonderful places and we had a chance to visit with those we love.

Stop #1: 2 days
Morro Bay State Park is located on a lagoon and natural bay habitat and estuary. This is one of our favorite places.

Fishing on the docks at Morro

Morro Rock....bigger than it looks.

Our otter buddy at the lagoon next to the campground

Fishing, tidepooling, rock climbing and cave exploring at Montana de Oro....just down the road from Morro Bay

Stop #2: 2 days
Monterey County
Chula Vina - Grandpa Henry's vineyard

Campfire amidst the vines with Uncle Tony and Grandpa Henry

Tractor rides courtesy of Grandpa. I thought the John Deere would konk out before the kids. They would never get tired of tractor rides.

We paid a visit to The Children's museum in Monterey and the kids are already asking when we can go back.

Stop #3: 4 days
Lake Nacimiento

This is where we spent Thanksgiving. Grandma and Grandpa Arnold and Uncle Scott met us at the Lake and rented a lakeside cabin. Grandma Tina provided the amazing Thanksgiving feast (I brought the rolls). Thanks MOM!!! We enjoyed the scenery and hiking trails and spent a lot of time relaxin'

Polar bear plunge....on a double dog dare. Notice I am the one taking the picture.

We went into downtown Paso Robles, just 20 minutes from the lake. We had fun exploring the town and checked out one of the local wineries.

There is always time for video games and arts & crafts in the trailer.
