We made a long weekend of our family reunion in Sonora for the Labor Day holiday. We met Mom and Dad on Saturday (after many hours in the car) in Sonora and headed off to the Woods River to find us some gold. We learned the true method of gold panning and sluicing thanks to our guide Nick (he really likes iced tea). After 3 hours of leaning over the cold, shallow river in rubber boots we called it a day. I think Grandma and Grandpa had just as much fun as the kids and we had a a few flecks of gold to show for our hard work.
