The kids are back at school and my head is spinning with projects. It seems to happen every year around this time. After spending many days at home over the summer break my idea file fills up to overflowing. With some time on my hands and my sewing machine close by I have gotten busy.
One of my latest creations that I nabbed from the Jones and co. website. With a little hot glue and pages ripped from an old book
( I used little house in the woods that was already in bad shape) I had a new wreath to hang in my entryway.
Chandellier $7 + spray paint $4.99 = $11.99
I found this beauty at a garage sale 6 months ago. It was in sad shape - but I loved the white porcelain of the chandellier body in contrast to the metal of the arms. I took it apart and with some cleaning and spray paint it looks like new. It originally had a brass finish .... oh, and the lady at the garage sale threw in the shades for FREE.
Coffee table + side table $39 + delivery $15 + paint $20= $74
We have gone without a coffee table for years. I think it all started when Maddie was a baby and she had a run in with the corner of our well used coffee table and we traded it in for a large ottoman without ever looking back. Just recently I got it in my head that our living room needed a coffee table. Thanks to craigslist I found a deal better than I could have imagined. The tables were delivered later that day and they were a sight to behold. Masking tape had been taped around the tables and when ripped off it removed strips of the finish ....not such a nice look. After a trip to Home Depot and a sweaty afternoon covered in paint my tables were ready for their new home.
I Did it! I added this yummy yellow florette pillow to my collection. It is my new favorite.
I really should be finishing the slip cover for my old ottoman that has now found a home in our pool table room. But I had to try my hand at this cute ruffle pillow that I first saw on the Jones design website. So easy and I love how it turned out.
That is one heavy mirror! I didn't have the patience to wait for Tom to come home and help me lift it up onto it's new display corner. But here it sits and here it will stay ... for now.
Bought a roll of burlap and it has become a new table runner for our dining room ...and some throw pillows to boot.
After moving that heavy ol' mirror from this spot by the stairs I was faced with covering a big black dent-like-mark on the wall. Paint would have been one solution. I went with the hang a big silver platter on the wall option. Shiny!!!
Every time I pass by my buffet I stop and gaze at my new ceramic message board and think of my Sister. Thanks Kris for a great bday gift. I love it!
2 beautiful bulletin boards $ 29.99 x 2= $59.98
Problem: piles upon piles of school papers, memos, reminders, lists, homework, art work, etc.... coming home everyday with the kids.
Solution: I found these inexpensive yet beautiful bulletin boards and my beloved Home Goods. One for current events and calendars, the other for our art work gallery. It makes me happy!
